Volunteer Opportunities
ISB offers parents numerous volunteer opportunities with various time commitments. In addition to the opportunities below, each Class in TPS through Grade 12 has multiple Room Parent volunteers who work closely with the Division Directors, and ISB seeks parent volunteers to support Admissions initiatives. Current parents, please log in to the parent portal to access volunteer sign-up forms and event RSVPs.
Once a Week
Bread Sales: A beloved ISB tradition occurring in the Gym Lobby from 3:00-4:00 p.m. most Fridays throughout the school year. Parent volunteers assist with bagging selections (ranging from baguettes and brioche rolls to several types of croissants) and managing checkout. Proceeds from Bread Sales help to defray the costs of OneISB community events. Parents can sign up to volunteer at bread sales each week, once a month, or even just once a year!
Once a Month
- Best of Boston Guide: Work with a small group of parents to update ISB’s “Best of Boston” Guide designed to assist families relocating to the Boston area. Our guide covers everything from obtaining a driver's license to a list of local favorite restaurants by town.
- Gala Planning Committee (September through April): Every spring, families, faculty, staff and friends of ISB come together for a night of glamour, a great lineup of auction items, and dancing in support of our largest fundraiser of the year for the ISB Annual Fund. The Gala Committee meets once per month, for approximately one hour, from September through April, with weekly meetings closer to the event. They assist with event promotion and ticket sales, soliciting local businesses for auction items, and event setup.
- Spring International Picnic Planning Committee (March through June): Parent volunteers help to brainstorm ideas, research vendors, and plan the various activities that take place during our annual spring picnic. This committee meets biweekly from March to June.
Once a Year
Check the Weekly Update or the Volunteer section on the parent portal for sign-up forms specific to each of the below volunteer opportunities. They will be shared at least one month in advance of the event.
- Welcome Café (September): Join us to welcome new families to ISB by assisting at the nametag table and with food distribution.
- International Cup Volunteer (November), Cambridge Cup (January), March Madness (March): Pass out school spirit giveaways to students and parents or sell ISB gear.
- Winter Community Event Volunteer (January): Assist with check-in, skate rentals, or distributing refreshments.
- Faculty & Staff Appreciation (May): Volunteers are needed to both donate breakfast items and to assist with setup and distribution.
- Giving Day Ambassador (May): Help encourage participation within your class during our annual Giving Day by communicating participation incentives or join us on the lawn for afternoon pick-up festivities.
- Spring International Picnic Event Volunteer (June): Volunteer for an hour at one of our various games and entertainment stations or assist with setup or breakdown.
