Thanks to alerts sent by our colleagues from the AEFE network, and unlike many other schools, ISB was able to transition smoothly to remote learning without the students experiencing any interruption in their regular studies. Our ISB Senior Leadership Team as well as our faculty and staff were well prepared. We are also grateful to our parents and students for their patience and flexibility, and especially to our faculty who, as usual, have put our students first and worked incredibly hard to present their classes in a new format. Here are a few words from ISB parents:
Merci pour l’incroyable dispositif que vous avez mis en place afin de garantir et de maintenir la grande qualité d’enseignement dont nos enfants bénéficient. Dans ce “nouveau normal” la continuité de l’enseignement, et au delà de ça, le lien social et un certain rythme des journées, sont essentiels à l’équilibre des enfants.
Few words: never been more proud to be part of ISB. The commitment and work provided by teachers, staff, IT, etc, to our students are remarkable in this time of uncertainty. Thank you so much!!!
Each academic division is approaching the continuation of classes in an age-appropriate way.
Our Maternelle students meet with their teachers through daily videos. They gather in the morning, create art, and attend workshops, story time and English classes. Lower School teachers are also in contact with their students every day. At both of these levels, the format is primarily asynchronous with daily opportunities to meet as a group, small groups, and individually with teachers and classmates via video chat in addition to offline content that students and parents access via a portal. Teachers continue to offer feedback to students on their progress.
Middle School students spend half of the day in synchronous classes and the other half working offline on classwork shared every day by faculty. Upper School students attend classes in a primarily synchronous format. ISB is a google school and both levels use Google Classroom to keep track of homework and enrichment activities. Teachers continue to assess students’ work and offer feedback.
