Blue Terrier Athletics

ISB students practice hard, play hard, and win hard, all while developing their confidence and school spirit as they participate in numerous athletic offerings.

Our athletics program promotes sportsmanship, competition, physical fitness, and lifelong wellness habits. There is tremendous pride for our Middle and Upper School Blue Terriers teams among our students, families, alumni, and the ISB community, which is highlighted annually at the International Cup, the Cambridge Cup, and March Madness – three beloved community traditions.

Blue Terriers are known for their combative nature and persistence, which can also be said about ISB’s athletics teams. In 2015, we introduced our new Blue Terrier mascot, named Volt. Wearing jersey number 15, Volt loves rooting for ISB teams and appearing at community events.

Upcoming Games

I enjoy seeing student-athletes experience new sports, especially those they were not exposed to prior to our program. Witnessing the camaraderie develop from participation on an athletic team is one of the greatest rewards in my position.

Interscholastic Athletic Teams

Our competitive, interscholastic athletic teams form the foundation of our athletic program. ISB offers varsity and Middle School teams for soccer and volleyball (MS only) in the fall, fencing and basketball in the winter, and volleyball and ultimate frisbee in the spring.

Club Sports

Club Sports allow students to gain exposure to new sports, all while developing confidence and providing opportunity for participation. ISB’s club sports are offered in a non-competitive environment and vary each season. Recent options include: archery, badminton, basketball, fencing, flag football, indoor soccer/futsal, running, table tennis, ultimate frisbee, and volleyball.

AEFE Tournaments

Through ISB’s partnership with the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), students also have the unique opportunity to compete in an AEFE-sponsored Volleyball Tournament in Washington, D.C., a Basketball Tournament in Chicago, and the Boston Cup Soccer Tournament hosted by ISB. These tournaments are competitive in nature. You can learn more about AEFE Tournament opportunities through our Global Learning Program
