Tuition & Affordability

Any family may apply for financial aid. We encourage all families who feel they need tuition assistance to apply for financial aid. Our Financial Aid Office is available to help you develop a plan that best meets your family’s needs.

Each year, we provide grants to students based on their family’s demonstrated financial need and the School’s available funding. The Clarity financial aid application assesses factors such as family income, expenses, assets, and debts, alongside other considerations like family size and any special circumstances detailed in a letter. Families should disclose all their financial information, including foreign incomes and assets (in the U.S. and abroad). Clarity performs a calculation and produces a report that estimates how much the family can afford to spend on education for the year. The difference between what the report says a family can afford and the cost of attending the school is called “Financial Need.”  At ISB, the Financial Aid Committee will review the Clarity report along with the School’s financial aid policies to assess each family’s potential contribution toward educational expenses. ISB offers grants exclusively; we do not provide loans. All financial aid requests and submitted financial information remain confidential, accessible only to the Financial Aid Committee. An appeal process is available following notification of financial aid decisions.
 

Financial aid awards help cover the cost of tuition and additional expenses including books, transportation, after-school clubs, athletics, field trips, school-recommended tutoring and exam fees. 

For returning families: The financial aid award amounts will be released with the re-enrollment agreement on February 3rd, 2025. 
For new families: The financial aid award amounts will be released with the admissions decision and enrollment contract on March 10th, 2025.

Families in our financial aid program must reapply annually by completing the necessary forms. Those who submit their forms on time and whose financial circumstances remain largely unchanged can generally anticipate a similar level of aid, adjusted for any annual tuition increases.

Financial aid is not available to students who require the School to issue an  I-20 form and/or who participate in ISB's homestay program.

All families participating in the financial aid program can enroll in the ten-month payment plan. Tuition is paid in installments monthly from June through March.  Families with exceptional circumstances should contact the Financial Aid Office to discuss payment plans.

Students holding French citizenship (residing with their parents and registered at the Consulate General of France in Boston) may apply for the Bourses Scolaires Françaises, allocated by the French government. The ISB Financial Aid Program may sometimes supplement the amount granted by the French government. French citizens applying for ISB Financial Aid must also apply for the Bourses Scolaires Françaises. In some circumstances, ISB may not know how much funding the French government will provide French families before the enrollment deadline.

For families where parents are divorced or separated and file separate tax returns, each parent must submit an individual application, with each submission kept confidential from the other party. For families for which parents are remarried, the income of all members of the households will be taken into account. If a parent is not involved in the child’s life, ISB may waive the requirement for non-custodial parent information upon confirmation of this situation. Families with three or more children enrolled at ISB in the same academic year should contact the Financial Aid Office.

Clarity is designed to simplify and streamline the process for families by offering a user-friendly interface that allows applications to be completed in as little as 20 minutes.

Les élèves de nationalité française âgés d'au moins trois ans au cours de l'année civile de la rentrée scolaire, inscrits au Consulat Général de France à Boston, et résidant avec l'un de leurs parents dans la région de Boston, peuvent effectuer une demande de bourses scolaires auprès du gouvernement français. 

A noter que les lycéens de 1ère et Terminale doivent suivre le programme français pour effectuer une demande.

Quand devez-vous déposer votre dossier?

La date limite de dépôt de dossier pour la deuxième commission des bourses pour l'année scolaire 2024-2025 est le 13 septembre 2024 pour les familles installées dans la région de Boston après février 2024. 

Pour l'année scolaire 2025-2026, la date limite de dépôt de dossier pour la première commission des bourses sera en février 2025 pour les familles qui résident actuellement dans la région de Boston.

La date limite de dépôt de dossier pour la deuxième commission des bourses pour l'année scolaire 2025-2026 sera en septembre 2025 pour les familles installées dans la région de Boston après février 2025. Les dossiers seront pris en compte début novembre.
