Meet Our IB Students & Alumni
I chose to take HL Psychology and Biology because I am interested in studying psychology or neuroscience in the future and these classes will provide a great base for that. I chose to take French A to continue growing my language skills, and I chose art to push myself and my development as an artist!
I chose the IB because it was the best suited program to prepare me for college in terms of: 1. teaching me to stay organized, 2. learning how to learn and how to think analytically, 3. encouraging effective group collaboration. The ISB IB program especially helped me in perfecting my essay and scientific study writing skills. My teachers would always do their best to make themselves available to help.
I transferred to ISB before my junior year of high school specifically to take the IB because I was looking for a curriculum which would challenge me intellectually and also broaden my perspectives both in learning and in life. Practically, I was beginning to think about applying to universities overseas, and I felt that the IB was the best choice academically to get me there.
My older sister went through the IB system, and I saw how it was critical-thinking oriented and how it emphasized problem solving. As I was interested in pursuing a career in STEM, I thought these skills would be of great help in achieving that goal. With the option of HL, you can really delve deeper into the subjects that interest you and that you want to learn more about.
I valued the diverse nature of IB study and the opportunity the Diploma Program allowed me to bridge the traditional gap between the liberal arts and sciences. Also my comfort for research and problem solving was something the IB helped me develop. When I got to college and needed to write a research paper or an academic report, I was already asking questions designed to probe deeper.
I chose the IB Diploma Program because of the well rounded, multilingual, and multicultural education it provides. I was given a chance to flourish in an environment where I could learn new languages and delve into topics and subjects that truly interested me. The IB gave me the ability to not only learn about fascinating subjects, but also enriched me with a deeper understanding of the "how" and "why" of the world and greater universe
Choosing the IB Diploma Program was a no brainer considering how world renowned it is and how well it prepares students for college. I really liked how as a global education, the IB pushes students to have a global-mindset and that it develops students’ social and academic skills. Finally, I chose the IB because in addition to being much more rigorous than other programs in the US, IB students become more confident learners that care about more than just results and assessments.
I chose the IB Diploma Program because I wanted a challenge that would effectively prepare me for college level courses. The IB taught me how to be academically ambitious and work alongside my teachers to fulfill my success. And finally, I am able to graduate a semester early thanks to the credits I brought back from successfully completing my IB exams.
