Lilian Bresler, Brandeis University (Class of 2019)
I am enrolled at Brandeis University as a political science major. Doing the International Baccalaureate program at ISB gave me the ability to find my interest in politics and social justice. During my junior and senior year I wrote my Extended Essay about racial wealth inequality in the United States which fostered my interest in Social Justice and forced me to realize its importance. Additionally, through the ISB Student Council, I had the opportunity to go to California for a student-led conference about diversity in private schools which taught me strategies for creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for my peers. Furthermore, the IB is an intense curriculum that has prepared me well for college especially when it comes to writing. The IB teaches students research and technical writing skills that other programs such as the AP system simply do not incorporate. This means that IB students certainly have an advantage going into university!
