Preschool through Grade 12

Academics at ISB: A Global Learning Experience

From Preschool through Grade 12, ISB students are introduced to the world through French immersion and learning in an international environment. They challenge themselves academically, explore their creativity and increase their confidence as they speak and think in two or more languages. Long known for our excellence in bilingual French and English education, in September 2021, we added another world language, Spanish, for our students to explore and master, starting with our Grade 2 students and continuing through Grade 12.

We are giving our elementary students the opportunity to become trilingual and our secondary students have the option to study Spanish at the novice or fully fluent level within the English-based International Baccalaureate curriculum.

New in September 2022: Students from Grades 2-5 will be given the option to either learn Spanish or Chinese. Another great opportunity for them to extend their knowledge!

Our program features:

  • French-English bilingual teaching: Preschool through Grade 8
  • Two diploma tracks (International or French Baccalaureate): Grades 9 through 12
  • New in 2021-22: Éveil aux langues (PreK-Grade 1) & Spanish-Language Program (Grades 2-5)
  • New in 2022-23: Choice of Spanish- or Chinese-Language Programs in Grades 2-5

New Spanish- and Chinese-Language Programs

Following the French Education Ministry’s recognition of ISB’s Elementary Division as a Section Internationale, the International School of Boston launched in September 2021 the Éveil aux langues program from PreK-Grade 1, and the Spanish-language program from Grades 2-5. This recognition from the French Education Ministry serves as an official guarantee of ISB’s excellence in multilingual and multicultural education. The two new programs are integrated within our French and English bilingual curriculum.

After the successful launch of these 2 programs, ISB will now be offering its Grades 2-5 students the choice of learning either Spanish or Chinese (Mandarin).

Contact us today to learn more about this exciting new opportunity to expose Lower School students to Spanish or Chinese for the first time, and to offer options for advanced and native Spanish speakers at the Middle and Upper School levels.

Build self-confidence and develop independent thinking.

Raj, 7th grade

ISB has opened my heart and my mind to the American culture but it has also built up my confidence to speak up.

Become a sophisticated critical thinker, and develop skills for life.

Audrey, Class of 2016

After having studied in both the French track and the IB, I have grown to be a more curious learner and engaged individual, but most importantly, a risk-taking and persevering leader. I am excited to tackle new challenges after my high school career.
