Maternelle, the French name for Preschool and Kindergarten, is a French Immersion program with 80% of its curriculum in French. It is organized into three distinct sections: Pre-Kindergarten (Petite Section) for children who will be three years old by the end of December; Mid-Kindergarten (Moyenne Section) for children who will be four years old by the end of December; and Kindergarten (Grande Section) for children who will be five years old by the end of December.
Teachers create classroom museums with their classes as a way of teaching our young ones the concept of what a museum is. As the students began creating their own art, the whole project became the Museum of Arts, Maternelle Arlington (MAMA) in 2013.
On the fourth floor, a generous multi-purpose room offers an ideal space for physical activity, including a climbing wall and an obstacle course. The Library is also located on the fourth floor.
The aim of the music program in the Maternelle is to let the children play with their voice, to learn nursery rhymes and songs, to explore music instruments, to use their body as a way to make music, and to strengthen the children’s ability to listen.
