Our Campus

The International School of Boston’s historic campus is located at the intersection of Cambridge, Somerville, and Arlington, Massachusetts - just minutes from downtown Boston, near many of the world’s most renowned universities, and within easy access to the area’s biotech industry.

In alignment with our community’s deep commitment to sustainability, many students and families arrive on campus by foot or bike daily. MBTA bus stops are conveniently located within walking distance of the School and provide access to downtown Boston, Somerville, Cambridge, Arlington, and Medford. Additionally, ISB is situated within walking distance of the MBTA Red Line. ISB families can also access two bus transportation options: ISB's Private Bus Service (with two routes, serving Boston, Charlestown, Newton, Waltham, Lexington, Arlington, and Belmont) and Cambridge Public Schools' Bus Service (for Cambridge residents only; free).

An Historic Cambridge Campus

Since 2005, ISB has been the proud owner of a historic building at 45 Matignon Road in Cambridge. We take great pride in being careful stewards of our historic property, and we extend that responsibility to our students and faculty, who occupy our spaces every day.

  • 1962: Founded as a French bilingual Kindergarten in a house basement and expanded quickly into a bilingual elementary school.
  • 1983: Moved into the historical Parmenter School building in Arlington.
  • 1997: Opened a Middle School in the 19th Century historic building (Almshouse) in Cambridge through a partnership with the Archdiocese of Boston.
  • 1999: Began the Upper School; the first graduating class to earn their French Baccalaureate was in 2001.
  • 2005: Purchased the Almshouse from the Archdiocese of Boston.
  • 2019: Cambridge's campus footprint was expanded to include Maternelle, previously located in Arlington, through a long-term lease of the Convent with the Archdiocese of Boston.

Our campus features dedicated Libraries for each division, a large gymnasium and Media Center, two playgrounds, shared outdoor athletic fields, dedicated spaces for the visual and performing arts. and more.
