Upper School

ISB Upper School prepares students to thrive in universities across every continent, embracing the unique challenges and boundless opportunities of our interconnected world.

We are the only school in New England that offers not only an American high school diploma, but also gives our Upper School students the choice between two internationally recognized diplomas: the French Baccalaureate or the International Baccalaureate (IB) taught in English.

Academic Tracks

The first two years of Upper School (Grades 9 and 10) are an exciting and rewarding time of exploration for students. During these years, students position themselves to earn one of two of our international diplomas.

College Counseling

At ISB, we encourage all students to identify and deepen their interests and skills beyond the classroom. Beginning in grade 9, students begin to explore career opportunities. They develop their strengths, interests and passions over the four years in Upper School, with ongoing support and guidance from the College Counseling Office.

The Upper School years forever change how students see and interact with the world around them. Beyond earning universally renowned credentials, Upper School students learn and grow in a culturally dynamic atmosphere that prepares them to pursue their dreams at a wide range of colleges and universities around the world, such as:

  • Selective U.S. liberal arts colleges like Bowdoin, Middlebury and Smith College
  • Top public universities like U.C. Berkeley and the University of Michigan
  • Renowned universities abroad like Sciences Po in France, Imperial College in the U.K. and McGill University in Canada
